Conflict produces Progress

It is a reality that any human organization will produce its fair share of conflict.  We all have different ideas, motivations and agendas and they will at times clash.  We also oftentimes have difficulty articulating what we want and communicating that to others.  Resentments can and do build up within only to be unleashed in inappropriate ways.

Regular users of Home like us can see that right now there is a fair degree of dysfunction.  There is a tremendous amount of negativity on the forums and in Home itself directed towards management, other users and the program itself.

One of the signs of a healthy organization is its ability to self govern.  To take its regulation upon itself and to work for constructive methods and solutions for what ails it.  This is the reason why we're motivated to organize the Home Open Debates.  There are many and various reasons why we are in this situation and this is something that we hope to fix.  In time we would like to see participation by those who do actually run Home and the forum, but in the time being we as users ought to get together and discuss the issues that are on our minds and is bothering us.  There is mention of two camps in Home, the "elite" and "rebels."  Labels are not definitive nor particularly descriptive, but are necessary for us to at least get a handle on the situation.

When Crunkris, Kamala_Ona and I met with Mr_Lochwood and Mrs_Lochwood last Thursday, we suggested to have these debates as a way to at least understand each other and provide a forum to share ways to work together.  It is suggested that the first debate should be devoted to airing personal grievances.  The origin of this conflict can really be dated back to last spring with the region hopping controversy (that is, at least, when I first heard the term "elite" being applied to certain users in Home).  And I don't want to sound too hippy or preachy, but I am hopeful we can achieve some kind of unity on Home after these debates.

  1. Makes me think of that saying,,, "Together We Stand, Divided We Fall"

How can anyone within the Sony Administration take us serious if we are always at conflict with ourselves and them,,, I am not saying we should become sheeple - but there are professional ways about airing grievances and making suggestions - attitudes need to change from the ground up - from the Noob up to HCM - We can't do anything about Noob conduct,, but we can work on our own conduct and hopefully make some changes for the better,,, we all have to learn to give a little and be flexible,,, as much as we want to we can't mold Home into what we want,,, we have to do what’s best for everyone.

  2. That's exactly what I'm thinking too, LBE. How can we tell the Home Team to get their act together, when we the community don't even get our act together ourselves?

  3. Well I dont know where to post this but here I go I want you to be able to get o know the managemen t team and be able to socialize I will post more later lol. I am not in the best shape.

  4. Mahatma Gandhi said, "Honest differences are often a healthy sign of progress", and I believe this to be true. It is how we come together to express these differences and indeed to move past them and work for the common goals we all share that will define us. Will we fight amongst each other until we have nothing left to fight for, or will we stand together and shape this world into something better - something we all may be proud to call Home?
